She’s going to be late again isn’t she. I wait for Cloe at my desk staring at my phone to see if she texts me. The last text message I sent says, “You’re coming to class today right?” which was this morning at 10am. She never responded. I hope she comes to class. She hated the last class I convinced her to take. At least that is what she says.
It’s 8 minutes before class and the professor is not here yet. That was unusual. However, it is not unusual for Cloe to be late but all that is on my mind is the question of if she is coming today. There are a few students in the room already. Cloe walks in and I am shocked. She sits next to me and faces me. I expect she might be a bit mean because she was acting like she didn’t want to be in this class when really she chose to take it and I think she secretly wants to be here.
“Bro. You know who I saw in this building a few minutes ago?” her voice is low but like she is sharing some tea.
“Who?” I match her tone. People are going to think we are actually gossiping about someone we know.
“Damon Sullivan. He’s the head of a gang I was in. I don’t know why he is here.” Fear flashes on her face and then disappears. She always acts so brave like she is never afraid. But really I think she is always afraid of something. With her always being around bad and dangerous people, she must be afraid but she hides it to protect herself. Ever since I met her she was involved in a gang. She lives a dangerous life.
“Isn’t he really dangerous? Is he here for you? Did he see you? Where is he?” I question her to figure out if she is in danger. She is always in danger which is expected in the kind of life she is living. I think I am the only safe person in her life right now.
“He is the most dangerous person. He didn’t see me thank God. But I don’t know why he is here and I have no clue where he went.” She berries her fear so no one sees. But I know she is afraid he is here for her. Although, I thought they were on good terms. He always takes care of her when I see them together. I hope nothing happened to that. If she made one wrong move, he most likely would go after her and possibly kill her. I hope she didn’t make a stupid move. I will have to keep an eye on her. There are 5 more minutes until class starts and Professor Mendel comes in. He greets the class as usual as he walks in. I had this professor a few times in the past. So I know many things he commonly does.
“Do you think you are safe here though? Maybe we should leave.” I question her quietly with concern. I don’t want anything to happen to her. She is like a sister to me. I hope no one heard any of what we said so people don’t get concerned.
“Wow. You want us to skip class. You’re always begging me to come to class and stay.” She smiles like she’s about to laugh. “Do you happen to know anyone that could hack into the security cameras in this school to spy on Damon?”
“No. How would I know someone like that? You’re the one that usually knows those kinds of people.” I respond.
“I can help with that.” Another student looks at us with a smile. She is wearing glasses and has her computer in front of her. That means others can hear us. Hopefully she didn’t hear the part where we said a dangerous gang boss is in the building.
“You can help us with what? And who the hell are you? Are you listening in on our conversation?” Cloe responds annoyed.
More coming soon.
